2007 Manual Traffic Exchange Review
2007 has been another exciting year for the traffic exchange world.
Another recent cry was heard reporting the death of traffic exchanges. That is a call I have heard a thousand times since I started using traffic exchanges in late 1999/early 2000. Traffic exchanges still provide an effective way for a person to advertise a product, a service, a program or even more importantly a way to brand yourself. It is low-cost or free and still based upon it original concept - you view my site and I’ll view your site. It is pretty simple.
Many new traffic exchanges were created, some died, and others changed ownership. The ones who survive and thrive are those with active ownership. By active ownership, I mean those who take care of their customers and do their own advertising of their traffic exchange. You can see traffic exchange activity go up and down by the amount an exchange owner advertises their exchange. It seems an owner is excited and active when they first open their doors, but many quietly go away as the owners advertising activity go down. Some owners just abandon their exchange…..an example of this is JackTenForty. The 0wner has just disappeared this year.
This also has been the year of spats between this group and that group over how business ought to be conducted in traffic exchanges. Maybe we ought to all agree that there are many ways of doing business in the traffic exchange world. No one owns the perfect way and that eveyone ought to be allowed to conduct THEIR business how they want without having to join this group or that group. For awhile, it sounded like a ‘battle’ was brewing and the name calling was at a furious pitch. It has seemed to quiet down recently.
During 2007, it seems traffic exchange users are more and more using splash pages to advertise and grow their list. Although there are those who continue to use affiliate pages and long sales pages and they wonder why they are not being successful.
So the basic question is whether or not traffic exchanges are effective. I say YES!
Surfers need to use the splash pages, track their results and surf. One word of caution for those with a very limited amount of time to surf. I continue to think as I have for years one ought to be surfing those exchanges that offer you the biggest bang for your time. That may not be your buddies, your friends, or some other reason….’ya got to get the biggest bang for your time!!
Finally, excitement grows as new exchanges are being planned for release in 2008. For those calling the ‘Death of Traffic Exchanges’, I say things can’t be too bad, Logitech has just announced a new exchange to open in January 2008!

Hi Tony,
Just came across and bookmarked your blog.
I enjoyed your commentary and will be sure to check back often.
The first quarter of next year will be a very exciting time for Traffic Exchanges indeed.
I know of 3 programs in development that will completely change how things are done and are perceived in this niche.
One of them I’m particularly fond of is coming around late Feb/Early March
Have a good one,
